Hey, despite knowing that it was going to be really challenging, and several attempts had failed in the past, we knew our customers wanted better coal quality so we developed the LC3, a low cut point coal spiral – cuts down to 1.50, 1.45 and below!
Not only that, it does this very effectively at accepted industry feed rates and fits into the same space as older models like the LD7RC.
The bonus is of course that it’s turned out to be a great all-rounder. It can perform as well, and in some cases better, than conventional spirals at traditional cut points of around 1.6 to 1.75 so you can see why we’re excited about it!
The photo shows one of our early prototypes in the test rig with a slurry of coal feed running over it. While it’s not a very glamorous photo the results I got off it were beautiful.
We’re also going to explore the avenue of ultra-fine coal because the flow attributes that make it successful at low cut points will likely be applicable to ultra-fine particles as well.
