Due to space constraints in the Concentrator, the new spirals are being shipped separately from the frames. Specifically designed in a knock down form, the frames are bolted together in the plant, and spirals are then installed as a separate process.
With this installation, IOC now has over 5,000 MD WW6E spirals installed in its Carol Lake Concentrator.
The first installation of spirals took place in the Hem plant at Carol Lake in 1995 and replaced worn out Humphreys spirals. This was followed by replacement of all existing spirals in the main plant over a 10-year period.
As well as supplying the spirals, Mineral Technologies is continuing to work closely with IOC’s engineering team to ensure the spiral circuit meets design criteria, delivering an efficient and problem free installation and commissioning phase.
