To be certain of the investment in a project, you need to know that the process will work on start-up and throughout the life of the operation. We provide certainty by rigorously testing representative samples and analysing the results beyond basic calculations to deliver innovative and cost effective process flowsheets that maximise the project’s revenue whilst minimising capital and operating costs.
With over 75 years’ experience, we know that not all ore bodies are the same so we utilise our expertise and knowledge to conduct detailed and sophisticated analysis of test results that identifies key mineral characteristics. From here we develop process flowsheets that maximise grade and recovery.
“What our customers have grown to expect and find most valuable about our Metallurgical work is our knowledge of how mineral types behave and respond to different processing options. Of course our testing is thorough but it’s our analysis of the mineral characteristics combined with our practical knowledge built up over the years that makes the difference. From this understanding we design flowsheets that incorporate innovative ideas and responsive designs, and this is what provides the best results for customers.”
Mark Palmer, Metallurgical Services Manager
Our metallurgists are experienced in the comprehensive range of analytical, bench, pilot and industrial-scale testing using wet and dry processing techniques. We utilise state of the art process equipment for crushing, grinding, classification and gravity separation as well as high and low intensity magnetic separation equipment for both wet and dry applications, and electrostatic testing.

Detailed analysis of results from metallurgical testing inform the development of innovative and cost effective flowsheets for specific ore bodies.
Where the ore is challenging, we bring high levels of innovation to design new and unique solutions that augment and lift the potential of conventional flowsheets to extract ore.

With teams located across a number of laboratories including our extensive metallurgical test laboratory in Australia and our partner test laboratories in the USA, South Africa, Brasil and India (under our direction), we conduct testing for customers no matter where their operation is situated.
Australian Laboratory
USA Testrig
Our fully equipped laboratory in Australia is a quarantine approved facility and is staffed by qualified personnel. This enables our teams to conduct testing on samples from any location worldwide.
We routinely test samples as small as 100 grams for characterisation and specific gravity fractionation, through to larger samples up to 2000 kg for bench and pilot scale testing and flowsheet development. Our laboratory also has the capability to create multi-stage pilot scale circuits to treat bulk samples (80-100 tonnes) for process testing and circuit optimisation.

Supporting our testing process is a suite of modelling software exclusively developed by Mineral Technologies. One of the significant advantages of our modelling software is its ability to predict the effect of stage recirculating streams which cannot be fully tested in a laboratory environment. This capability provides additional confidence in predicting process outcomes.
